Hi, I’m Kayla Fahey-Ahrndt!  Thank you for visiting my site, Cerulean!

Cerulean the Brand

I’m a young professional working toward some exciting life goals, and my brand, Cerulean, is dedicated to helping both myself and you through our every day journeys. Cerulean is a vibrant shade of blue and was apparently named “Color of the Millennium” by Pantone.  If I were a color, I’d shine cerulean from my being.  I hope my blog and brand can help us all shine our best colors.

With Cerulean, I want to create a space for women, who are recent college grads through their late thirties, where we can have candid conversations about what it is like being successful women in all aspects of life.  I want to hear from you all what that looks like and how we can help each other succeed.

About Me

I currently work full time as a Medical Laboratory Scientist and Blood Bank Specialist.  I am the Blood Bank Supervisor at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital.  I’ve been a science nerd my whole life, and I knew in middle school that I wanted to work in a hospital lab and someday cure cancer.  Since then, I’ve worked many years in both research and clinical laboratories.

In January 2017, I started an online Masters in Public Health program through George Washington University in D.C.  Some day I want to run for public office (and I’d love to be appointed Health Commissioner!), so I will use my MPH to focus my efforts on health policy.  I am about half way through my MPH program, so graduate studies are part of my daily life.  Yes, I’m working full time and being a part time graduate student!

I am an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action (ACS CAN) network.  Previously, I’ve lead the ACS CAN volunteer base for Congressional District 4.  Currently, I am an ACS CAN ambassador for Congressional District 3, where I reside.  I often lobby my lawmakers to support legislation that benefits cancer patients, chronic disease patients, and their families.  You may see my Instagram or Twitter feed blow up with pics at the Minnesota or U.S. capital fairly frequently.  Advocacy is one of my favorite things to do.

Please contact me if you like what you see on my blog and want to connect further.  I’m interested in forming a podcast, doing guest bloggers or interviews, etc.  I’d love to meet you for coffee in person or via Skype!

Thanks again for visiting Cerulean!
